Dear Monorails and Mickey Tales: My 3 yr old is really scared of anything in the dark. Are there rides she can go on at Magic Kingdom that don't involve the dark but also don't mean us standing around outside in the heat?

Your daughter would love the Haunted Mansion. Kidding!

Here are some air-conditioned, non-dark rides that are appropriate for preschoolers:

  • The Enchanted Tiki Room (Adventureland): Only brief darkness and some thunder sounds, but generally little kids are fine with this one.
  • Meet talking Mickey and Tinker Belle at Town Square Theater (near park entrance): You do have to stand in line, but it's indoors.
  • Indoor circus play area in the line for Dumbo (Fantasyland): Kids run around while parents chill. Yay!
  • Carousel of Progress (Tomorrowland): A little slow, good for pre-nap time in stroller.
  • Hall of Presidents (Liberty Sqr): Very slow, good for pre-nap time in stroller.
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic 3D concert (Fantasyland): The volume might be too loud for for a 3-year-old. She might also be a little wary of the 3D aspect, but in that case she can just remove her glasses and will probably still enjoy the show.
  • Bibbity Bobbidi Boutique in Cinderella's Castle (Annie get'cher' wallet ready!)

  • Move It Shake It street party near castle (usually 11:00, 12:30 and 5:40, schedule): super fun for kids
  • Festival of Fantasy parade near castle (usually 3:00, schedule)
